The terrace under the great rock

The Domain · Our Story

A hideout in the curve of the rock

That is what 'keif' means: a hiding place tucked into the rock. Ours sits above Jezzine, on a hillside the same family has kept for three generations.

Jezzine, and the orchard

Jezzine is the City of Falls: a ninety-metre waterfall, pine forests, knife-makers at work since 1770, and at nine hundred and fifty metres the summer refuge of the South. keifjezzine grew out of this town.

Seventy-five years ago this hillside was planted as an apple orchard. It stayed in the family, season after season. In 2017 keifjezzine set one long table under the trees and gave the hideout its name.

Built by hand

Every structure on the domain starts as a sketch. La Verrière, the glasshouse, was built from old steel windows and a lot of patience. Then came the iron doors, the tiled bar, and most recently the upper terraces: five stone seating rooms among the oaks. Nothing arrives finished here. It is found, drawn and built by hand, one low season at a time.

The keepers of the table

The table is the other half of the work. The kitchen cooks from the garden and the market. Bouquets are cut in the morning, lace is laid over raw wood, and hand-knitted covers come out when the evening cools. Every wedding and feast on the domain is planned with the people hosting it.

The corners of the domain

La Verrière, in glass and green. The winter lodge, by the hearth. The Kheyme Arabiyeh, a Bedouin tent handwoven from goat hair in Baalbeck. The garden salons, the orchard walks and the upper terraces among the oaks. Each gathering uses the corner that suits it.

Come see it for yourself

A weekend lunch is the simplest way in: one long table, with the domain around it.
